At the crossroads of the picturesque and fertile Ptuj Field and the Prlekija region, in an excellent transport location between Ptuj and Ormož, a new chapter in boutique accommodation is beginning.
The Point **** guesthouse, built on the strong foundations of more than 40 years of hospitality tradition of the Žiher family, officially opens its doors to guests today and is now accepting reservations. The new property in Moškanjci combines contemporary accommodation, distinctive cuisine created in cooperation with local producers, and flavors from around the world.
The new tourist destination offers an ideal base for exploring the remarkably diverse surroundings of historic Ptuj, the wine-growing Slovenske Gorice hills, the Jeruzalem–Ormož wine region, and Haloze, home to some of the finest wines of Slovenia’s Štajerska wine region.
This is more than an expansion of the local tourism offer. It is a project that sets new standards for sustainable development and energy efficiency in Slovenian tourism.
A Story Carved in Slovenian Wood
The Point is one of the few tourism properties in Slovenia designed as an energy-efficient new build with a predominantly timber structure. More than 90% of the building’s external thermal envelope is made from wood and wood-based insulation materials. The building incorporates a solid timber structure, blown-in wood-fibre insulation, and façade panels made from wood fibres. More than 210 m³ of Slovenian timber was used in the construction, including over 150 m³ of KVH structural timber, nearly 45 m³ of BSH glued laminated timber, and 2,400 m² of timber boards. The structure is held together by more than 30,000 screws and 500 metres of staples.

Sustainable Measures and Technological Innovation
The building achieves significantly higher energy efficiency than required under current standards for new developments. Its key sustainable and technological solutions include:
- Green energy: heating with wood chips sourced from Žiher Les’s own wood-processing centre, combined with a highly efficient heat pump.
- Energy self-sufficiency: an on-site solar power plant with an integrated battery storage system.
- Water reuse: a rainwater collection tank and distribution system that enables rainwater to be reused for toilet flushing.
- Indoor comfort: highly energy-efficient timber windows and doors, together with a heat-recovery ventilation system throughout the building.
- Advanced digitalisation: a modern key-card system, a self-check-in kiosk, a hospitality TV system, and a fully integrated digital booking system.

A starting point for cycling adventures, offering GPS routes, e-bike charging stations and 10 bicycles for hire: 8 touring e-bikes and 2 electric mountain bikes.
WELLNESS & BEAUTY POINT:
Two premium wellness areas featuring Finnish and infrared saunas, a whirlpool, loungers and showers.
Business Point:
A modern meeting place for the business community, with a fully equipped conference room for meetings, lectures and events.
