At the intersection of the picturesque Ptuj field and Prlekija, on the transport route between Ptuj and Ormož, stands a modern four-star accommodation establishment comprising 17 accommodation units. Built on the foundations of more than 40 years of Žiher family tradition, it represents an important addition to the destination's tourism offer and an excellent starting point for exploring the Ptuj Plain, Haloze, the Slovenian Hills and Slovenia's oldest town, Ptuj. The Point Guesthouse is designed for guests looking for quality accommodation, an active holiday, wellness, cycling experiences and an authentic connection with the local environment. Special emphasis is placed on the development of sustainable tourism, cooperation with local providers and the creation of a quality user experience.
The building has been designed as a highly sustainable new development that exceeds modern energy efficiency requirements and adheres to the ‘Do No Significant Harm’ (DNSH) principle. The construction utilises a predominantly timber structure, with timber and timber-based insulation materials accounting for more than 90 per cent of the external thermal envelope. Modern systems for efficient energy use, heat-recovery ventilation, a solar power plant, low-temperature underfloor heating and a system for collecting and utilising rainwater, all of which contribute significantly to reducing the building’s environmental impact.
As part of the investment, measures to promote sustainable mobility were also implemented. A covered bicycle shelter has been arranged, electric bicycles are available to guests, and infrastructure for the use of environmentally friendly forms of transport has been established. Through this, the project makes a significant contribution to the development of active and cycling tourism in the Ptuj Field area and the wider region.
Through the construction of new tourism infrastructure, the project creates conditions for new jobs and encourages cooperation with local providers, tourism partners and the wider community. The investment contributes to increasing quality accommodation capacities, developing sustainable tourism and raising the competitiveness of the destination's tourism offering.
Project aim is the sustainable development of the accommodation tourism supply, the increase of quality accommodation capacities and the raising of the added value of active and cycling tourism in the Ptujsko polje area.
