Between the Drava, vineyards and centuries of noble heritage
Europe is rich in castles and manors, but seldom are these gathered in such a small space as right in the area between Styria, Burgenland, Slovenia and Croatia. Here we live in a true natural and cultural standard of excellence, where mighty castles, noble residences and manors have for centuries been telling stories about rulers, chivalry, trade routes, art and everyday life of the past.
Castle Road – Cesta gradov it represents the tourism product of the future, which connects the castles and manors of Slovenia, Austria and Croatia into a shared cultural and historical narrative. It is a modern interpretive product that enables visitors to experience rich heritage through museum collections, culinary experiences, weddings, concerts, festivals, castle events and boutique experiences in the authentic environment of centuries-old architecture.

Among the central towns that form the backbone of the new product, the following stand out:
Ptuj Castle
The most magnificent castle in eastern Slovenia and the symbol of Slovenia's oldest town. With its collections of weaponry, traditional masks, musical instruments, noble furniture and rich history, it represents one of the country's most important cultural landmarks.
Borl Castle
One of the oldest castles in Slovenia, which towers mightily above the Drava River. Due to its exceptional location, the history of the Ankenstein family, the legend of Parsifal and its recent content renovation, it is becoming an important centre for cultural tourism, the interpretation of the Drava's natural heritage, and a venue for events, weddings and active experiences.
Velika Nedelja Castle
A former outpost of the Teutonic Knights and one of the most recognisable symbols of the eastern Slovenian hills. With its historical value, views and authenticity, it represents an important link in the story of the Castle Route.
Ormož Castle
A noble residence on the edge of the wine-growing hills of Jeruzalem and the Ormož-Ljutomer Hills, which complements the cultural image of the destination with its museum content, events and urban character.
Castle Road is not merely a connection between castles, but a shared narrative of a region that has shaped the identity of the people along the Drava over the centuries. It is a network of experiences where history, art, gastronomy, wine culture, weddings, heritage interpretation, and modern tourism trends intertwine.
The project is being upgraded today in cooperation with partners from Slovenia, Austria and Croatia, and represents an opportunity for the development of a new international tourism product that will enable visitors to explore the most beautiful castles and manor houses of this part of Europe.
